Resurrecting the Romanovs: 105th Anniversary of the Fall of the Czars in Russia
On March 15, 1917, Czar Nicholas II Romanov, in a time of brutal war, social instability, and economic chaos, officially abdicated in the face of massive protests, formally ending the Romanov dynasty and ensuring that Russia's historic trajectory would change dramatically. As we face our own unique challenges and war within that very part of the world, the times call us to reflect deeply on what the past can teach us. Join us to commemorate the 105th anniversary of the fall of the czars in Russia by watching a historical drama about the Romanov family's final days on the throne!
Agenda:
We will begin with a short 10-20 minute lecture about Russia's long march toward a revolution and the Romanovs' role in this. We will record this. Then we will watch Part 1 of Romanovs: A Crowned Family (the film is about an hour long). We will wrap up with 15-20 minutes of casual reflections or discussion for anyone who wish to stay afterwards.
