Korean Placement & GEP Language Requirement

For Korean heritage students to start taking a Korean course, they will have to have a placement meeting with Dr. Yoon, the Korean coordinator, to ensure their course level.

For non-heritage students with prior learning background to start taking a course higher than KORE 101, they can have a placement meeting with Dr. Yoon as well.

Please contact Dr. Yoon to schedule a meeting.

The placement test result does not provide an exemption from GEP Language 201 Requirement. If a student is placed into KORE 201 or higher, the student can fulfill GEP L201 requirement just by taking the one course. If a heritage student attended a secondary school in Korea (sixth grade or above), they may receive the equivalency for L201 by submitting proper documentation to MLLI.
