Majoring in MLLI is like no other language program in the country. We focus our studies on the intercultural relationships behind all language learning. In addition to classes focusing on students’ particular language or applied linguistics interest, all students take a series of classes together that introduce them to basic linguistic methodologies, the challenges and opportunities of multilingual communities, and the critical examination of written, visual, cinematic, and digital texts. Students are strongly encouraged to study abroad for a summer or a semester to deepen their language skills and cultural understandings. You will find that our language and cultural studies are intertwined and you are encouraged to work closely with your advisor to chart a meaningful pathway through your MLLI experience.
